Beard Hair Transplant

22 Sep 2025 By Admin

Beard is a sign of masculinity for men. a good dense beard goes a long way to enhance the look of any man A patchy beard brings down one's confidence because it affects the look a lot.  A patchy beard is also difficult to style. It doesn’t look good long or trimmed. That is why beard transplant is getting really popular these days.

In a typical beard transplant, hair are extracted from different parts of the body like scalp and chest and implanted into the beard.

Beard reconstruction can use up anywhere between 1000 to 5000 grafts depending upon how much area has to be reconstructed. For eg only 3 to 4 patches here and there would need about 1000 grafts. Complete cheek area would need about 3000. Moustache including, the no goes upto 4000. Upper neck including, it goes up to 5000.

So how is beard transplant done?

The surgery like any hair transplant procedure has 2 steps. Extraction and implantation.

So here are the steps:

  1. Patient is prepared for the surgery by giving medications, pre anesthetic workup is done, photographs taken, etc
  2. Scalp area from where grafts have to be taken is trimmed and cleaned with spirit and betadine.
  3. Local anesthesia is given in donor area.
  4. Grafts are extracted one by one using smaller than usual punch size such as 0.7 or 0.8mm, since for the beard we need single hair grafts and double hair grafts.
  5. Beard area is cleaned and anesthetised.
  6. One by one the grafts are implanted using implanter pens ( bio ipt) or forceps ( FUE).
  7. In bio ipt no pre made reception holes are made, whereas in FUE first holes are made and later grafts are implanted.

After the surgery, certain precautions have to be maintained such as:

  1. Consume soft food for the next 10 days.
  2. Spray saline water on the grafts
  3. Take your medications as required.
  4. Wash your grafts without rubbing.
  5. Avoid sun exposure for 10 days.

Typically the hair shed off in a month and start regrowing after 3 to 4 months. Full result is achieved in 10 months.

Also, the beard growth initially might be different as compared to the surrounding beard hair so would need trimming.

For the initial 10 days, scabs are visible wherever we implant in the beard. These scabs take about 10 days to shed off. After 10 days, the face skin is absolutely healed.

So in short, beard implant or beard hair transplant is a simple and safe procedure provided it is done by a qulaified and experienced doctor.
